A new Rugby League project called Freesport has been introduced to Croydon aimed at inactive young people who have not played rugby before. A series of sessions have been delivered across the borough by inspirational coaches from South London Community Rugby League.
On Tuesday 6th November four teams from Gonville and St. Mary's competed on the Lanfranc 3G astro pitch. Six 5-a- side matches were played and lots of goals scored.
Nine Sporstsleaders from Archbishop Lanfranc came to Gonville Academy to conduct a coaching session for the teams and organise and run the competition. The girls experienced 6 different football activities, covering heading through to goal shooting.
Well done to all the schools and students that competed so well in our annual X country festival week. Good luck to those schools and pupils who are going through the national pathway. Results can be found in the resources area.
